The second round of talks between Ukraine, Russia and the USA on ways out of the Ukraine war has begun in Abu Dhabi, according to Ukrainian sources. This was announced by the Secretary of the National Security Council in Kiev, Rustem Umjerow, on his social networks.

He had previously announced a planned prisoner exchange. A trilateral meeting was held at the beginning, followed by group discussions on individual issues. Moscow news agencies confirmed the start of the meeting.

The first round in this format took place in the capital of the United Arab Emirates in mid-January. For the two warring parties, it was the first direct contact at official level in several months. The second meeting was overshadowed by Russian airstrikes, which further destroyed the Ukrainian energy supply in the middle of a frosty period.

The Russian state news agency Tass reported an alleged agreement at the talks in Abu Dhabi that Ukraine would not join NATO. Tass based this on sources close to the Moscow delegation. However, the peace plan developed by the USA does not rule out Ukraine joining the EU in 2027. There was no comment on this from the Kiev side.
