The second day of negotiations in the trilateral talks between Kiev, Moscow and Washington on ending the Russian war in Ukraine has come to an end. The delegations have returned to their hotels and there are no plans to continue today, the Russian state news agency Tass reported, citing negotiating circles. No concrete results were initially announced.

The negotiations are aimed at finding a way to end the war of aggression against Ukraine ordered by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin in February 2022. In return for an end to the violence, Russia is demanding that Ukraine cede territories and renounce NATO and a powerful army. In particular, Ukraine has rejected a further withdrawal from the areas not previously occupied by Russian military forces. As mediator, the USA wants to persuade both sides to compromise.
According to information leaked from negotiating circles, both warring parties are basically satisfied with the progress of the talks. There are results, but these are being announced by those responsible at home, Tass quoted a member of the Russian negotiating delegation as saying. Ukraine has also assessed the negotiations as "positive" and "constructive", wrote Axios political observer Barak Ravid on X. According to this, the talks are to continue as early as next week.
