The Ukrainian air defense has reported 267 Russian drone strikes, a record since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression three years ago. 138 missiles were shot down, reported the air defense in Kiev. Air force spokesman Yuri Ihnat announced on Facebook that there had never been so many drone attacks in one night since the start of the war on February 24, 2022.

Several regions were affected. Damage was reported in the Kiev, Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions, among others. 119 drones disappeared from the radar. According to Ihnat, there were also three Russian attacks with Iskander missiles.

According to the local authorities, one man died in a Russian missile attack in the southern Ukrainian industrial city of Kryvyi Rih. Five people were injured. Twelve residential buildings, other buildings and cars were damaged in the attack, it was reported.

In the capital Kiev alone, the air raid lasted six hours, according to the authorities. Two houses, cars and the roof of a post office were damaged. Debris from a downed drone was also found in Kiev's botanical garden, the authorities said.

Selensky: Ukraine needs strong support

President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the air defense for its successful work. In the past week alone, Russia has attacked Ukraine with 1,150 drones, more than 1,400 glide bombs and 35 missiles.

"The war continues," said Selensky. He once again emphasized that more air defence systems were needed to protect people. "We must do the maximum to achieve a lasting and just peace for Ukraine," he said. "This is only possible through the unity of all partners - we need the strength of the whole of Europe, the strength of America and the strength of all those who want a reliable peace."
