According to its General Staff, the Ukrainian army has hit two aircraft factories in Russia with air strikes. The Aviastar aircraft factory near Ulyanovsk on the Volga was attacked on Monday night, according to the military in Kiev. An air-conditioned hangar and a parking area as well as several aircraft were damaged. The factory produces Ilyushin Il-76 military transport aircraft, Il-78 tanker aircraft and maintains heavy transport aircraft.

Attack on maintenance factory

In addition, a maintenance factory for Il-76s near Staraya Russa in western Russia was attacked with drones on Tuesday night. A hangar was damaged. The Russian side did not confirm the hits. The Ministry of Defense in Moscow only stated that attacking Ukrainian drones had been intercepted in these regions.

In its defense against the Russian invasion, Ukraine is attempting to eliminate military targets deep in the enemy's hinterland. Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin had his troops invade the neighboring country in February 2022.
