Ukrainian drone attacks on the Crimean city of Sevastopol

According to the authorities, an oil depot caught fire overnight during a Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian-occupied naval city of Sevastopol on the Crimean peninsula. The fire in a tank containing fuel residues was caused by drones that had been shot down, wrote the city's head of administration, Mikhail Rasvoshayev, on the Telegram platform. The fire had no impact on Sevastopol's fuel supply.

There were no casualties, the statement continued. In addition, the air defense system had shot down two more drones over the city. The information could not initially be independently verified.

Russia annexed the Ukrainian peninsula in 2014 following an internationally unrecognized referendum. More than four years ago, Russia launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine. In the war that has been going on ever since, Ukraine has repeatedly attacked Russian targets in Crimea using drones, among other things.

In the Leningrad region, which borders St. Petersburg (formerly Leningrad), the port of Vysotsk was the target of Ukrainian attacks, as Governor Alexander Drosdenko announced on Telegram. An attempt was made to extinguish a fire there. 27 Ukrainian drone attacks were repelled.

Ukraine has recently stepped up its attacks on the Russian oil industry in light of the Iran war in order to reduce Moscow's income from oil exports.
