According to the Ukrainian military, it has recaptured the village of Torske, which is important for the defense of the city of Lyman. Up to 100 Russian soldiers were killed during the storming, according to the General Staff in Kiev. "There are also prisoners", according to the message sent via Telegram. The Ukrainian flag has been raised again in Torske. The information has not yet been independently confirmed.

Torske is a village in the north of the Donetsk region. Before the war, more than 1,000 people lived there, but it has since been largely destroyed. It was captured by Russian troops shortly after the start of the war and recaptured by the Ukrainians during their offensive in the fall of 2022. It recently returned to Russian hands.
Torske is important due to its location on the banks of the River Sherebez. This river forms a natural barrier and makes it difficult for troops to advance - for example on the town of Lyman, just 13 kilometers to the west, and the agglomeration around Sloviansk and Kramatorsk behind it, which the Russian army has been unable to conquer so far in the war that has been going on for more than three and a half years.
