The United Nations is treating the Russian airstrike on Kiev, in which a children's hospital was damaged, as a war crime. "I would like to remind this Council that hospitals enjoy special protection under international humanitarian law. Deliberate attacks on a protected hospital are a war crime and the perpetrators must be held accountable," said Joyce Msuya, the acting head of the UN Emergency Relief and Works Agency (OCHA) at the UN Security Council in New York.

The attacks were part of "a deeply worrying pattern of systematic attacks on healthcare and other civilian infrastructure across Ukraine", Msuya continued. The missile strikes with dozens of fatalities in Ukraine had caused horror on Monday. Kiev blamed Moscow for this. France and Ecuador then convened an emergency meeting of the most powerful UN body.
