Israel UN strongly condemns staging of corpse handover

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, has strongly condemned the staged handover of the mortal remains of Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip by the terrorist organization Hamas.

"The display of corpses, as happened this morning, is despicable and violates international law," Türk said in Geneva. "Under international law, any transfer of the remains of the deceased must comply with the prohibition of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment and ensure respect for the dignity of the deceased and their families."
