This was reported by Unicef spokesman Ricardo Pires in Geneva, citing partner organizations on the ground.
"There is no safe place for them," said the spokesperson, referring to the children. Although the medical situation on the ground is improving, a total of 4,000 seriously injured girls and boys are still waiting to be evacuated so that they can be treated in clinics outside the Gaza Strip.
Israel and the terrorist militia Hamas had agreed a ceasefire in October, but this has been violated several times in the meantime.
Onset of winter causes concern
People are very worried about the onset of winter, explained Martin Penner from the World Food Program (WFP). In the past few days, falling temperatures and heavy rain had made the imminent challenges clear.
High prices on markets
According to the WFP, the population is now better supplied with food thanks to the aid deliveries. Local bakeries and kitchens were providing people with meals. The markets are also well stocked again.
But the prices are unaffordable for most people. For example, a chicken costs 25 dollars (22 euros). "Things are better than before the ceasefire, but there is still a long way to go," continued WFP spokesperson Penner.
The Gaza war resulted from the massacre of Israeli civilians by Hamas and other terrorist organizations in October 2023.
