Repairs to Ukraine's power grid following a massive Russian airstrike will take several weeks, according to utility Ukrenerho. "The situation is quite difficult. We're actually not talking about days, but weeks that a restoration will take," said the head of the state-owned company, Vitaly Sajtschenko, on Ukrainian television's permanent news program.

For the people, this means that the power cuts will now last 12 to 16 hours instead of 4 to 8 hours. This affects most parts of the country, said Sajtschenko. The shutdowns usually also mean that there is no water in the homes.
On Saturday night, another massive air strike hit Ukraine's energy grid. Based on the count of the US institute CSIS, it is likely to have been the third heaviest air attack of the war to date, with 653 drones and 51 rockets and cruise missiles.
