According to the leadership in Kiev, a revised version of the US peace plan for an end to the war in Ukraine is to be sent to Washington today - and will have significantly different features. The peace plan drawn up by the US government has now been shortened from 28 to 20 points, President Volodymyr Zelensky told Ukrainian journalists. "The positions openly hostile to Ukraine have been removed."

Selenskyj continues to strictly rule out ceding territory to Russia, a particularly sensitive point in the talks on a possible peace solution. "We have no right to do so under the law - neither under the law of Ukraine, nor under our constitution or international law, if we are honest," he was quoted as saying by the Interfax agency. Russia, meanwhile, continues to insist on the cession of territories in eastern Ukraine.
The USA handed over its plan for an end to the war in Ukraine, which has been going on since 2022, to Kiev at the end of November. The draft, which was often criticized as a "Russian wish list" and approved by Moscow, was rejected by the Ukrainian leadership and its European allies - and subsequently revised.
Selensky tours Europe
Following talks on the current status of peace efforts, which he held in London on Monday with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU), British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, Zelenskyi flew directly to Brussels. There he informed NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, the President of the European Council, António Costa, and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen about the status of talks with the USA on a possible peace solution.
"Our positions are coordinated on all issues. We are acting in a coordinated and constructive manner," Selenskyj announced on the online platform X after the talks with the EU and NATO leaders. Von der Leyen wrote after the exchange with the Ukrainian: "The goal is a strong Ukraine, both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table." Costa expressed similar sentiments, reiterating: "Ukraine's security must be guaranteed in the long term as the first line of defense for our Union." Rutte spoke of good talks on the way to lasting peace.
This followed several days of negotiations between negotiators from Kiev and the USA last week on a new version of the peace plan presented by US President Donald Trump.
Drone attacks on Sumy
Meanwhile, the Russian military once again attacked targets in the north-eastern Ukrainian region of Sumy. "There are mass attacks on energy facilities in the municipality of Sumy," the governor of the region, Oleh Hryhorov, announced on Telegram. The Russian army had deployed more than a dozen combat drones. The electricity in the city had failed and critical infrastructure was being maintained in emergency mode. Repair teams should repair the damage as soon as the security situation allows.
