Centcom Commander Michael Erik Kurilla said: "As we have said in the past, we will continue to relentlessly pursue these terrorists in defense of our homeland and the personnel of the United States, its allies and partners in the region."
The U.S. is leading an international coalition in Iraq and Syria in the fight against terrorist organizations. US troops are to remain in the country for the time being, even after the fall of Syrian ruler Bashar al-Assad.
