The Vaudois government has made two concessions to state employees in the budget dispute. It is withdrawing both the so-called crisis contribution - 0.7 percent on salaries - and the abolition of relief lessons for teachers at the end of their careers.

The government made this decision at an extraordinary meeting, the State Council announced on Friday. It is proposing a new way to restore social cohesion and secure the canton's future financial balance.
The State Council now expects the state employees to end their strike. "In view of the measures taken, the State Council is of the opinion that the conditions for the legality of the strike are no longer met," the State Council continued in the communiqué. The government also announced its intention to negotiate with the trade unions.
At the end of September, the government presented its budget for 2026, which envisages a deficit of CHF 331 million and cost-cutting measures amounting to CHF 305 million.
