Bavaria Von der Leyen wants to activate special clause for defense

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wants to enable higher defense spending by activating a special clause in the European debt rules. "I will propose activating the escape clause for defense investments," she said at the Munich Security Conference. "This will allow member states to significantly increase their defense spending."
