US special envoy Steve Witkoff, who will be received by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Tuesday, and the head of the Ukrainian negotiating team, Rustem Umjerov, were also involved in the talks. Also present were EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
"Peace really must be permanent. The war must end as quickly as possible. Much now depends on the commitment of all heads of state and government," Selenskyj wrote on X. The talks with Macron focused on the negotiations to end the war and the military security guarantees with which the countries supporting Ukraine, united in the so-called Coalition of the Willing, want to secure a peace solution.
