The trade union Unia has denounced large companies at the presentation of the Women's Wages Report. They are ignoring the Gender Equality Act. At the same time, bourgeois parties wanted to weaken or abolish wage analyses.
The report showed that minimum wages are important for women. Unia announced on Tuesday in the run-up to Women's Strike Day on June 14 that women often work in low-wage sectors.
20 percent of women, twice as many as men, are employed on low wages. Among immigrant women, the proportion of low-wage workers is as high as 30 percent. However, according to the union, a wage must be enough to live on.
According to official figures, women continue to earn 17.5 percent less than men. 55 percent of this is due to indirect discrimination such as profession, sector or age. However, 45 percent is due to direct discrimination - there is no other explanation, Unia stated.
