Following Moscow's surprise announcement of a short ceasefire at Easter, the Ukrainian president has proposed a 30-day extension in return. "If the complete ceasefire actually holds, Ukraine is proposing an extension beyond April 20," wrote Volodymyr Zelenskyi on Platform X. "This would show Russia's true intentions - because 30 hours is enough for headlines, but not for real confidence-building measures," the president added. "30 days would give peace a chance."

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is ready to follow the behavior of the Russian armed forces: "Silence (of weapons) in return for silence, defensive strikes in response to attacks." He emphasized that the words from Moscow are not trusted. "We know too well how Moscow manipulates, we are prepared for anything."
The military is currently reporting that Russian attacks and artillery fire are continuing on several sections of the front. He was expecting a detailed report on the situation at the front later in the evening.
Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin had surprisingly announced a unilateral ceasefire on the front in Ukraine in the afternoon. The 30-hour ceasefire is to last until midnight on Easter Sunday.
