Against the backdrop of a cold snap and massive energy supply problems, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned of new massive Russian air strikes. "Please pay attention to the air alerts", said the head of state in his evening video message.

At the same time, he criticized the Western allies. "We are talking honestly with our partners about the necessary missiles for air defense and air defense systems. The deliveries are not enough," emphasized Selenskyj. Kiev is urging the partner states to speed up the delivery process.

Ukraine has been experiencing severe frost for days, with temperatures dropping to minus 20 degrees at night in some places. At the same time, the Russian military has caused failures in the supply of electricity and district heating in large parts of the country through systematic missile and drone attacks on energy facilities. The situation is particularly difficult in the capital Kiev, where emergency power cuts have been taking place for days.

Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian invasion for almost four years with Western support.
