Interpol and several European countries want to solve decades of unsolved murders of women. They are looking for the names of 46 dead women - and are addressing the public.

Together with the German, Belgian, Dutch, Italian, French and Spanish police, they are looking for clues to 46 women's bodies in the "Identify Me" campaign, according to the organization based in Lyon, France.

Most of these women were murdered or died under suspicious or unexplained circumstances. Their bodies were found decades ago, but their identities are still unclear.

Campaign extended

On the campaign website, Interpol has published facial reconstructions and pictures of jewelry and clothing found on the women. Interpol quoted its Secretary General Jürgen Stock: "Even the smallest piece of information can be crucial in solving these unsolved cases." The public could be the key to finding a name and a past and ensuring long overdue justice.

Interpol launched the campaign last year with 22 cases from Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Around 1800 tips were received from the public. One woman was identified 31 years after her death.
