Inflation in the USA accelerated sharply in May, reaching 4.2% year-on-year. In April, the inflation rate was still at 3.8 percent.
The price trend was driven by the rise in energy prices as a result of the war in the Middle East, as the data published on Wednesday shows.
Even excluding volatile energy and food prices, inflation accelerated to 2.9 percent compared to 2.8 percent in the previous month.
