This compares to 29,459 in the previous year 2024. Migrants with Turkish citizenship were most strongly represented in 2025 (1933), as the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS) wrote on Tuesday. In second place were irregular entries by people from Afghanistan (1842) and Morocco (1174).

The figures for suspected smuggling activities and handovers to foreign authorities were also down in 2025 compared to 2024. The number of cases fell from 280 to 182.
