Ittigen mayor Marco Rupp will not be standing for re-election in November. This was announced by the Ittigen Citizens' Association (BVI) on Friday.

The 69-year-old has been mayor for ten years and previously served as president of the municipal assembly and municipal councillor.

BVI is putting Thomas Stauffer in the running for the municipal presidency in his place. The 55-year-old entrepreneur was a member of Ittigen's audit committee until 2013.
