The new branch in Milan is scheduled to open its doors in the first half of the year and will offer its services to wealthy Italians and family offices.
The new branch will be headed by Roberto Coletta, who joined Julius Baer from Deutsche Bank in 2024, as the Zurich-based wealth management bank announced on Tuesday. Organizationally, the new branch in Milan will become part of Julius Bank Europe, which operates out of Luxembourg and already has branches in Dublin, Madrid and Barcelona.
Julius Baer had been active in Italy for years through its subsidiary Kairos, in which it acquired a stake in 2013 and took over full ownership in 2018. However, the Italian company did not develop as desired and was soon considered a "problem subsidiary" of Julius Baer. In 2024, it was sold by the Zurich-based bank to the Italian Anima Holding.
