The trial against Nestlé Waters for illegal disposal of polluting waste in the Vosges mountains, which was due to start on Monday at the criminal court in Nancy, has been postponed until March. The reason for this is the filing of a new lawsuit.

Before and during the hearing that confirmed the postponement, around 30 people gathered to protest against the company. Among other things, they chanted: "Water for life, not for profit." The trial is now scheduled to take place from March 23 to 27.

Nestlé is accused of operating four wild waste dumps in Contrexéville, They-sous-Montfort, Saint-Ouen-Les-Parey and Crainvilliers. The total volume of waste amounts to 473,700 cubic meters - the equivalent of around 126 Olympic swimming pools.

The trial, originally scheduled for May 26 to 28, was decided after an investigation by the regional environmental procuratorate in Nancy, but has already been postponed once to November because the summons to Nestlé Waters was received too late and because the number of witnesses was so high that more trial days had to be scheduled.

This time, the trial was postponed because a complaint was filed by the environmental protection organization France Nature Environnement, which is appearing as a co-plaintiff.
