A coach was caught in a landslide in central Vietnam and buried under earth and boulders. Six people were killed in the serious accident and 19 others were injured, according to the National Road Safety Administration. The accident occurred late on Sunday evening on the Khanh Le Pass between the tourist towns of Nha Trang and Da Lat. Many passengers were trapped under the wreckage of the vehicle.

According to the newspaper "VnExpress", there were 32 people in the coach, including two drivers. The injured were being treated in hospital, Le Kim Thanh, the deputy head of the authority, told the German Press Agency. "This is a natural disaster - rocks and earth suddenly fell on the bus." A very large boulder hit the bus directly. The front section in particular was affected and completely deformed.
Heavy rainfall for weeks
The fire department and police arrived with two ambulances and around 20 emergency personnel, but were only able to reach the scene of the accident after midnight due to further landslides. According to reports, there had been heavy rainfall in the region over the past few days and the earth was completely soaked.
It was only at the beginning of the month that heavy rainfall caused severe flooding in central Vietnam. Dozens of people lost their lives. The towns of Hue and Hoi An, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and popular with tourists from all over the world, were particularly affected.
