After the number of jobs advertised at Swiss banks had previously fallen, there were more job advertisements again in May for the first time in a long time. This is shown by an analysis of the job portal Indeed.

A total of 592 job advertisements could be found on the websites of the ten largest Swiss banks at the end of May. Compared to the end of April, the number of job advertisements has thus risen by 8 percent. Indeed regularly counts and analyzes job advertisements on bank websites for the news agency AWP.

The increase is in contrast to the long-term trend of an ever decreasing number of vacancies. The number of advertised banking positions is currently 16% lower than in May 2024 and 44% lower than in May 2023.

The fact that the number of vacancies has now risen again in the short term is solely due to the job advertisements of the three largest banks. For example, there are 10 percent more job vacancies on the UBS website than a month ago, while the Raiffeisen banks and Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB) have even increased by 25 percent each. In contrast, the number of job advertisements has remained stable or fallen at all other banks whose websites are analyzed by the job portal Indeed.
