The Olten SO station buffet will be closed and renovated at the end of the year. The legendary station buffet will then resume operations under new management. According to the SBB, it wants to find a new tenant that fits in with the buffet's long history and tradition.
The Olten station buffet has been run by the Italian Autogrill Group and its predecessor companies SSG and Passaggio Holding since 1973, SBB announced on Monday.
Autogrill and SBB have decided to discontinue their long-standing collaboration at the end of January 2025 and to place the station buffet in new hands.
The Olten station buffet was founded in 1856. According to SBB, its central location makes it "the station buffet par excellence in Switzerland". Incidentally, the buffet is located between platforms 4 and 7 - but there are no platforms 5 and 6.
Several clubs, parties and companies were founded in this station buffet, including the Swiss Alpine Club (1863), the Swiss Federation of Trade Unions (1880), the Free Democratic Party (1894) and the Swiss Football Association (1895).
