"Australia is not only an attractive growth market in its own right, but also an important milestone in Flix's expansion in the Asia-Pacific region," said Flix CEO André Schwämmlein according to the press release. "Just as in Latin America, we also want to further expand our presence there." Although Australian operators have modern vehicles, the local long-distance bus sector is largely traditional and only partially digital.

According to Flix, the Western Pacific region is becoming increasingly important for the growth of the global long-distance travel market. "A compound annual growth rate of 12.2 percent is forecast for long-distance coaches between 2023 and 2028."

According to Flix, it is currently active in more than 40 countries on four continents.
