According to the airline, the subscription model introduced in April generated higher costs than revenue. The 4.4 million euros in subscription fees were offset by discounts of more than 6 million euros, reported Marketing Director Dara Brady.
At 55,000 people, the number of subscribers also remained far below the targeted upper limit of 250,000 customers. The income did not justify the time and effort associated with the subscription model, said the manager.
For the one-off fee of 79 euros, customers received special ticket offers once a month, free reserved seats and travel insurance for the booked flight. According to Ryanair, this could result in savings of up to 405 euros per year. Savings could be made after just three flights. The existing subscriptions will be serviced until the end of their term.
