Despite the end of the pilots' strike, Lufthansa passengers can still expect numerous flight cancellations today. Around 20,000 flight attendants at Lufthansa and its regional subsidiary Cityline have been on strike since midnight.

The cabin crew union Ufo has called for this wave of strikes by flying personnel up to and including Thursday. It wants to achieve better working conditions in the collective bargaining dispute. Hundreds of flights are likely to be canceled again, especially at the Frankfurt and Munich hubs.

In addition, the pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) has already announced the next strikes at Lufthansa: a strike on Thursday and Friday will affect the core company Lufthansa, the cargo company Cargo AG and the regional company CityLine. The vacation airline Eurowings is also to go on strike on Thursday. At the same time, VC is proposing an arbitration procedure to resolve the wage dispute, to which Lufthansa has agreed in principle.

Ceremony with Chancellor planned

The strikes will overshadow the ceremony to mark "100 years of Lufthansa". Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder (both CDU) are among those invited to the new "Hangar One" visitor center.

Ufo called for a protest rally in order to send a signal against the company's "hard hand policy". The pilots' union also called on its members to take part in the rally. They are fighting for higher company pensions.
