No one was injured, said police spokesman Pascal Wenzel at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency. Around 50 people were evacuated from the industrial plant. According to initial estimates, the damage to property is expected to be at least in the six-figure range.

Due to the heavy smoke development, Alertswiss had issued a message calling on the population to close windows and doors and switch off ventilation and air conditioning systems. There were no explosions, said Wenzel.

A large contingent of the fire department was deployed, including the Brugg fire department, which supported the local fire department with a CO2 extinguisher and additional foam, as the police spokesman told regional broadcaster Tele M1.
