Latest Man confesses to killing eleven-year-old after video game near Paris
A 23-year-old man has confessed to stabbing an 11-year-old girl to death after a fit of rage over a defeat in the video game Fortnite. "He was very angry after an argument with another gamer," said the public prosecutor in charge on Wednesday in Évry near Paris.

"He wanted to steal something or blackmail someone to calm down," the prosecutor added. The man had lured the girl into a wooded area and threatened her with a knife in order to steal from her. When the girl started screaming, however, he panicked and stabbed her, the prosecutor said.
The man, who is studying computer science, admitted that he spends most of his free time playing video games and regularly throws tantrums. "It happens that he leaves the house on foot or in the car to calm down again," said the prosecutor. His sister described him as nervous and aggressive.
DNA traces of the perpetrator were found on the girl's hands. The public prosecutor's office requested pre-trial detention. His parents, who were also in police custody, were released. His girlfriend has been released on conditional release. She is still suspected of not having reported the crime.
According to the public prosecutor's office, the eleven-year-old died of stab wounds. She had been missing since the end of school on Friday. On Saturday night, police officers with the help of sniffer dogs found the body in a wooded area a few hundred meters from the school.
