After driving a car into a group of people in Passau, an arrest warrant has been issued for attempted manslaughter against the driver. This was announced by the police. The man was transferred to a correctional facility.

According to initial findings, a custody dispute could have been a possible background to the crime. Among the five injured are the 40-year-old wife and five-year-old daughter of the 48-year-old driver. According to the police, the man as well as his wife and daughter live in the Passau area, but are reportedly separated.
The man was arrested after the journey and initially questioned. It is not yet known whether he made any statements. He was reportedly taken to the local court with his hands cuffed, where he was brought before the magistrate.
The Iraqi had driven his car into the group of people on the sidewalk in a street near the main railway station at around 3.30 p.m. on Saturday. The police quickly assumed that the man had deliberately driven the vehicle into the group of people.
Wife's life not in danger - daughter released from hospital
The wife and a 39-year-old woman were initially treated in hospital, but there is no danger to their lives. Three people with minor injuries have already been released from hospital, including the five-year-old daughter of the alleged perpetrator, according to the police.
The other two injured are an 18-year-old woman and a 52-year-old woman. According to reports, they suffered abrasions and bruises, among other things. The police could not yet say how the other injured persons were related to the family.
Passers-by had alerted the police. The injured were initially all taken to hospital by ambulance. The scene of the accident was cordoned off. Officers called on witnesses to contact the Passau criminal investigation department.
