A 37-year-old Tunisian man has been remanded in custody following an attack on a fellow inmate in Ticino's La Stampa prison less than a week ago. The man is accused of attempted intentional homicide and grievous bodily harm.

Six days ago, the 37-year-old attacked a fellow inmate with a sharp object. According to the police, the 22-year-old suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries to his neck.

At the time of the attack, the man was already serving an early sentence for crimes against physical integrity, the Ticino cantonal police announced on Wednesday. He has now been remanded in custody following questioning.
