On Monday morning shortly after 9:30 a.m., the Zug police operations control center received a report that a man had been electrocuted at Rotkreuz station and was lying on the railroad track.
The emergency services immediately arrived at the scene to find a man with life-threatening injuries. After receiving initial medical treatment, the 59-year-old man was taken to a hospital outside the canton.
According to initial findings, the man had previously climbed onto a catenary pole, been struck by an electric arc and thrown onto the railroad track from a height of around 6 meters. The exact cause and the course of events are currently unclear and are being clarified.
Two tracks had to be closed for a short time while the patient was being rescued. This led to disruptions in rail traffic.
