Companies Many international companies from key technologies relocated
In 2024, 231 international companies settled in Switzerland. An above-average number of these companies come from innovative key technologies, as announced by the cantonal directors of economic affairs.

The Conference of Cantonal Directors of Economic Affairs (VDK) announced on Wednesday that around two thirds of the new companies established in Switzerland last year came from the five key technologies. These technologies include Future of Health, Digital Worlds, Automation, Food and Finance.
According to the press release, these companies created 716 new jobs in Switzerland in their first year of operation. Over the next three years, they plan to create a total of over 2135 new jobs in Switzerland, it added. Around half of the newly established companies came from the USA, Germany, France and the UK.
To strengthen Switzerland as a leading location for technology and innovation, the federal government, cantons and regions have set out in their strategy for 2024 to 2027 to market Switzerland more strongly in the five key technologies. The focus is on the quality and not the quantity of the companies located here.
In collaboration with the cantonal economic development agencies and the regional organizations, the VDK collects figures on the number of foreign companies setting up in Switzerland once a year.
