Rockfall Masses of rock tumble into the valley near the Sigel Alp in Appenzell

Masses of rock fell into the valley below the Alp Sigel in Appenzell on Thursday morning. The extent of the rockfall is still uncertain. According to the Innerrhoden authorities, there are currently no reports of injured persons or damaged buildings.

The rockslide occurred between 7.00 and 07.10 a.m., wrote the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. On Friday, a reconnaissance flight with a helicopter will provide information about the extent of the rockfall and possible consequential risks. Aerial photographs will be taken and analyzed by a geologist, the press release added.
