The MAZ School of Journalism, based in Lucerne, is announcing a job reduction "across the entire institution". In a press release issued on Friday, the training center cites a noticeable deficit as the reason.

This is caused by falling numbers of course bookings. This is due to the decline in advertising revenue and subscription income from publishers. As a result, course registrations are being planned at shorter notice or postponed, "sometimes even postponed altogether", according to the press release.

The school now wants to streamline its structures in order to reduce fixed costs and ensure "heightened cost awareness".

As part of these measures, the management is also to be reorganized. In particular, the function of program director (CPO) is to be adjusted.

There will be a change in this position: Reto Vogt, former Head of Digital Media and AI Studies, will take over from Beat Rüdt, who is leaving the MAZ.
