The municipality of Albula drew a "very positive balance" after the visiting windows on Saturday in the threatened Graubünden mountain village of Brienz GR. The residents mainly collected small items from the village, which has been evacuated for 13 weeks.

"Nobody came in a van," said Christian Gartmann, communications officer for the municipality of Albula, when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency on Saturday. Apart from a bicycle, it was mainly files and other small items that were taken from the houses.

The mood among the residents was positive. They had appreciated the fact that their request for a short visit to the village had been granted.

During the two-hour visiting windows in the morning and afternoon, the evacuees were given the opportunity to return to their homes for the first time since mid-November. The demand was so great that the municipality set up a third visiting window at short notice. However, Brienz GR remains evacuated due to the threat of a rock avalanche.
