At the start of the murder trial on Monday, forensic experts presented their investigation results at the Basel criminal court. They support the prosecution's assumptions.
The forensic team in Muttenz BL that reconstructed the crime was questioned on Monday morning. Their investigations had shown that a one-handed shot was plausible. However, an accidental shot in the course of a loading movement was "unlikely", they said.
Whether it was an accident, as the accused stated, or a murder, as the public prosecutor's office accuses, is likely to be decisive for the question of the statute of limitations.
The 60-year-old defendant is accused of shooting dead a 21-year-old drug dealer in 2000. The presumption of innocence applies until a final verdict is reached.
