The man has been in custody since the end of September, the police announced on Friday. So far, he has not made any statements about his motives. The public prosecutor will soon order a psychiatric assessment.
Around 70 people were evacuated in Léchelles in the Broye district in June 2020 after an incendiary device was found under a car shelter. According to the investigation, the alleged perpetrator acted alone. He is said to have assembled the incendiary device from individual components purchased separately.
He apparently also acted in the same way in September 2024. At that time, three military vehicles in Grolley were damaged by flames. Police found further incendiary devices in the man's apartment in Courtepin at almost the same time. The suspect has been behind bars ever since.
