According to the decision, Nestlé may produce natural mineral water at the Vergèze site subject to conditions and increased monitoring at two boreholes. In mid-August, Nestlé Waters Supply Sud had applied for a review of the operating license for the bottling of the natural mineral water "Source Perrier".
The basis for the now positive decision was a health report, it was said. At the end of November, the expert issued a positive opinion and a recommendation on the situation, with some reservations, also with regard to the definition of natural mineral water. In addition, the Council for Environment, Health and Technology Risks had also expressed a positive opinion.
Following an incident at a nearby wastewater treatment plant, Nestlé Waters had to temporarily shut down the production of mineral water in Vergèze. This is where the green Perrier bottles are produced, which were already affected by a scandal involving illegal filters.
