The business of video streaming market leader Netflix continues to grow rapidly - but a tax dispute in Brazil has put the brakes on profit growth. Last quarter, revenue rose by 17 percent year-on-year to 11.51 billion dollars.

Netflix no longer reports subscriber figures, which is why this is the key indicator of business growth. In terms of profit, however, Netflix missed analysts' expectations. Earnings per share amounted to 5.87 dollars, while the stock market had expected an average of one dollar more.
The share price fell by around five percent at times in after-hours trading. Netflix cited an ongoing dispute with the tax authorities in Brazil as the reason for this. However, the company does not expect any consequences for later results. On the bottom line, profits rose by almost eight percent year-on-year to just under 2.55 billion dollars.
Netflix scored with viewers in the past quarter with the animated film "KPop Demon Hunters", among other things. Netflix closed the previous year with 301.6 million customer households.
