The court also convicted the driver of multiple counts of causing bodily harm through negligence, some of which involved serious injury, endangering life and violating traffic regulations.
The criminal court therefore did not agree with the public prosecutor's office, which demanded a prison sentence of 6 years and 9 months, including for intentional homicide.
In addition to the prison sentence, the 21-year-old will also receive a conditional fine of 25 daily rates of CHF 130. He must pay compensation and damages in the five-figure range to the family of his colleague who was killed in the accident. He must also pay damages and compensation to the three surviving passengers, some of whom were seriously injured in the accident.
