20 people had to be evacuated in Locarno on Wednesday afternoon due to a fire in an apartment building. One person suffered mild smoke inhalation and had to seek medical treatment.

The fire broke out in the kitchen of an apartment on the third floor, according to the Ticino cantonal police. The injured person was in the apartment where the fire broke out.

The cause of the fire is still unclear and under investigation, the police added.
