More than 20 pigs died in a barn fire in Detligen BE on Sunday night. The barn was badly damaged.

The fire in a pigsty was reported shortly before 3.00 a.m., according to the Bern cantonal police on Sunday. Thanks to the rapid intervention, the fire was brought under control and extinguished. Two pigs and 21 piglets that were in the burning barn died, it added. The barn was severely damaged.
Several other pigs in other stables in the building survived. According to the statement, 73 members of the Aarberg regional fire department and the Lyss fire department were deployed. An ambulance team checked two people and five firefighters as a precautionary measure. No one was injured, the police added.
The road in Detligen (municipality of Radelfingen) was closed until shortly before 6.00 a.m. for fire-fighting work. The Bern cantonal police launched an investigation into the cause of the fire and the amount of property damage, it was reported.
