In Mendrisiotto in southern Ticino, over 200 liters of rain per square metre have fallen in the last 24 hours. It rained particularly heavily in Coldrerio TI, where 185 millimetres were measured in just six hours, as the federal government reported on Monday night.

Coldrerio was the leader with 227 liters of rain per square meter in the past 24 hours, according to a statement from the Federal Office of Climatology and Meteorology (MeteoSwiss) on the X platform.

MeteoSwiss had again expected heavy thunderstorms in Ticino on Monday night. There was already heavy rainfall in the region during the night from Saturday to Sunday. In Mendrisiotto, 48 liters fell in just two hours, as MeteoSwiss reported on Sunday morning. However, Monday is likely to be dry throughout Switzerland.
