Despite changeable conditions, the 2025 summer season was pleasing, IG Parahotellerie Schweiz announced on Friday. The six members BnB Switzerland, Interhome, Reka, Swiss Youth Hostels, TCS Camping and Swisscamps reported stable to rising overnight stays and a positive revenue trend.

More overnight stays in youth hostels

In the Swiss Youth Hostels, for example, the number of overnight stays rose by 2.9 percent, according to the report. The proportion of foreign guests increased by 15 percent. In the press release, CEO Janine Bunte attributes this to new offers and the opening of Martigny Youth Hostel.

The vacation home agency Interhome achieved a 5 percent increase in bookings, with business with guests from Australia (+24 percent), Saudi Arabia (+23 percent) and the USA (+16 percent) doing particularly well. At BnB Switzerland, domestic demand remained high with a stable booking situation overall. And demand from France and Germany continued to increase.

In the camping sector, TCS Camping achieved the third-best season in its history with around 925,000 overnight stays and an increase of 2.6%, according to the press release. The proportion of foreign guests rose to 31 percent. Due to the weather, 2025 was an ideal year for camping fans, it said. The Swisscamps association, a member of the IG since 2025, also recorded a high occupancy rate.

The trend towards shorter but higher-priced stays continued in the summer for offers from the Swiss travel fund Reka, the report continued. Although overnight stays at Reka fell by 5 percent, sales increased by 3 percent.

Positive booking situation for the winter

There is also confidence in the industry with regard to the upcoming winter: Demand from abroad remains high, while Swiss tourism is benefiting from the earlier Easter vacations. New accommodation offers such as those from Interhome or new online functions for instant bookings at BnB Switzerland are also helping.

According to the figures, Swiss Youth Hostels recorded an increase in bookings of 3.8 percent compared to the same time last year. Combined offers with overnight stays and discounted ski passes are particularly popular in St. Moritz, Pontresina and Davos, according to the press release. Meanwhile, six winter campsites are open at TCS Camping. And Swisscamps is also preparing for the growing target group of winter campers.
