Less bureaucracy for farms: this was the motto of Agriculture Minister Guy Parmelin's meeting with stakeholders on Friday. From 2026, the number of inspections of farms is to be reduced - without any loss of quality.

"We must avoid duplication in inspections without minimizing the credibility of farms," Parmelin told the media in Bern. Controls will continue to be necessary in the future, because billions in subsidies are at stake for farmers. "But we must try to coordinate these various controls better."
Parmelin plans to organize a second meeting with the stakeholders concerned in the middle of next year, then at a higher level, he announced. By then, concrete measures to reduce the intensity of controls are to be defined.
The plan is to reduce the administrative burden on farmers from 2026. "We still have a lot of work ahead of us," said Parmelin. And it requires everyone's commitment.
