Publisher and Chairman of the Board of Directors of AZ Medien, Peter Wanner, has sold the media company to his sons Michael and Florian and his daughter Anna Wanner. Peter Wanner will remain Chairman of the Board of Directors, as CH Media wrote on Thursday.
Michael Wanner, CEO of CH Media, will receive the majority of votes. "As the eldest, Michael was always the leader in the family, accepted by everyone," said his father in an interview with CH Media newspapers, which is majority-owned by AZ Medien. In the event of differences of opinion, it is important that someone has a majority of votes.
Peter Wanner had already initiated the discussion about the sale two years ago. "In the end, we found an amicable solution," said the 81-year-old. The parties agreed not to disclose the sale price.
Michael Wanner has been CEO of CH Media since April 2023. His brother Florian Wanner joined the Executive Board in 2024 and is responsible for electronic media. Anna Wanner is Co-Head of CH Media's domestic editorial team and, like her brothers, a member of the Board of Directors of AZ Medien. Daughter Caroline Wanner has waived her participation as a doctor, the media company wrote.
AZ Medien AG holds 65 percent of CH Media Holding AG. NZZ owns 35 percent. According to its own information, CH Media includes 18 daily newspapers and their online portals. The media company also owns various radio and television stations as well as the online portal Watson.
